Palliative care consults by default did not affect inpatient length of stay
Implementation of a default, opt-out palliative care consultation intervention for older hospital patients with advanced chronic illnesses did increase consult rates from 16.6% to 43.9% and significantly increased odds of discharge to hospice.

Hospitals with higher proportion of Black patients hit with value-based Medicare penalties
Mortality rates for myocardial infarction and pneumonia were consistently higher at hospitals that treated a high proportion of Black patients, and that didn't change after implementation of Medicare's value-based payment program, a 10-year study found.

Conservative airway strategy may improve outcomes in comatose patients with acute poisoning
