ACA coverage expansion decreased frequent ED use among Medicaid, uninsured patients
Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the share of all California ED patients covered by Medicaid increased from 21.5% to 37.6%, and the share of uninsured patients decreased from 26.9% to 13.2%, the study found.

Medicare bundled payments may not be effective for medical conditions
Costs for the five most common medical conditions in Medicare's Bundled Payments for Care Improvement initiative decreased similarly in hospitals that did or did not participate. Mortality and readmission rates were also similar.

Use of monitored injection site associated with less hospital and ED use
An analysis of an unsanctioned safe consumption site found that patients who used it were 27% less likely to visit the ED and 32% less likely to be hospitalized than those who did not.
