30-day readmissions after MI declined over past decade
Myocardial infarction was the cause of only 8% of the readmissions, while 38% of them were for a noncardiovascular cause. Over the whole period, 36% of 30-day readmissions occurred within a week of discharge.

Morning discharges did not reduce hospital or ED length of stay
In a study of seven hospitals in Canada, a hospital's number of discharges between 8 a.m. and noon was not significantly associated with any reduction in ED or hospital length of stay, 30-day readmissions, or in-hospital mortality.
